The Candy Bandit

I think I've mentioned Kaya's little problem before. The child is hopelessly addicted to candy and cookies. When it's been awhile since she's had anything sweet she will beg and and whine for it and if we don't respond she'll grab our hands and try to drag us to the kitchen--the place that she thinks magically produces such yummy items. (Sadly, it does seem to always have something sugary). I usually try to convince her that fruit is candy, but it hardly ever works. Until the other day when Kaya discovered Kendall's box of Runts. Now there's some yummy fruit right? When I tried to take the box away from her, she gave me the fiercest, meanest, how-dare-you look I've ever seen. So naturally I let her keep the box and started snapping pictures. And naturally her mood completely changed and she started posing.
The expression below cracks me up. Kendall asked for his candy back and she hugged the box posessively and chanted "nonononono"!

I can't believe how well she has us figured out! She just has to give us this big, sweet grin with a little head tilt and she gets whatever she wants. Even a big box of runts. (How many fruit servings do you think that would be?)

Oh, she is way too cute to say no to!

My kids are sugar monsters, too. We've been trying to get better about it. I need to just not buy it but every time I'm stocking up on basics the junk finds its way into my cart, too.

I think I need to send Mike out to do the grocery shopping. He's better at sticking to the list than I am.

Ha! That's so funny!

I don't feel like I buy candy, yet there's always some around. We still have a ton from Halloween and then from Christmas stockings. Yesterday, I found 2 partially eaten suckers on a shelf. I asked Lilly where those came from. She told me flat out that she gets them while I'm in the shower in the mornings or when she gets up really early and everyone is still sleeping. I was ticked (and trying not to laugh) and all Andrew said is, "At least she's being honest". I think she gets her sweet tooth from Andrew. He's always sneaking candy. And sneaking it to Lilly.

That is very cute! I love the "nononono" look! I have to watch Kevin around Rebecca, he wanted to feed her Cheetos when mom was here!

I think she has everyone wrapped around her fingers with that little grin...you, Kalen, Taylor, Kendall, Lynnsey, Spencer sometimes, me, Uncle Tifee (Timothy), and everyone at Church especially Bro. Evans.
Did Kendall ever get his Runts back?
