Spring Soccer

We've been enjoying yet another soccer season. I love spring soccer the best, mostly because the weather gets warmer and warmer each game as opposed to the fall where we have to bundle up with extra layers for each game and still end up sitting in the car to keep from getting frostbite. This spring only Taylor and Kendall are playing. Lynnsey decided at the last minute that she really did want to play after all but we thought it may do her some good to sit out a season in hopes that she'd miss it so much that she'd beg to play in the fall--and would really play! So far she seems quite content with her early retirement, so we'll have to see what happens come fall. The pictures of Taylor below are from a recent game where his co-ed team played the high school girls team. Taylor's team actually held their own. They still lost but only by a point and I think the girls team was actually surprised that they had to work to win.

Kendall has had an amazing season. They've won all their games except the last one in which they tied. He just loves soccer so much! It is great fun to just watch him play. The game below was the one they tied. Kendall was exhausted. It was quite warm that day, so all the kids tired out pretty quickly plus Kendall had already spent an hour planting flowers at a service project for a Faith in God activity. We had to race back for his game and they had started early! But he still got right in there and gave it every ounce of energy he had. He came SO close to scoring a goal several times but as you can see, he usually had to fight to get past three or four kids and then had to face a large goalie who seemed to take up most of the net.

It had been lots of fun. We are hoping for at least a few more seasons from both boys. Taylor will only be able to play until he's fourteen and then if he wants to continue he'll have to try out with the high school team, so we'll see if he's that serious about it. Kendall has quite awhile until he's fourteen but we just have to monitor him closely with his heart problems to make sure that he's not wearing out. So far he has done a remarkable job and you really wouldn't ever guess that he'd had any kind of heart defect, so we just hope and pray that things will continue along that line. Great job boys!

Good job, guys! We love soccer, too. So far, we only play in the fall, but the spring temps are definitely more appealing!

Amy, I don't know how you do it with Kendall...my heart would be up in my throat every time I watched him play, wanting him to slow down, etc.

I am impressed with them both! Way to go!! I myself just get tired thinking about running that much!! I would have to say that spring would be much better than fall, I am not a person that likes the cold!!

Good job to you both, you deserve a big hug for all the hard work that you put in!!
