Our Cute-Ness Monster

I was finally able to get Kaya in for her one year old portraits on Friday which I am actually feeling pretty good about. She has only been one for a month and a half. Some of my kids didn't get their one year portraits until they were coming up on two! I almost cancelled the appointment when the day before she bumped her head on one of our solid wood doors and got quite a bruise and then when I went to get her after her nap, I saw that she had managed to scratch her cheek enough that it was bleeding. Of course, I wanted her to look perfect for her photos, but I also knew that I might have a very long wait if that were to happen. She is so much into everything that pretty much everyday brings a new bruise or mark of some sort. So I didn't cancel. Anyway, it was an adventure. If this girl is awake, she is on the move. I knew getting her to sit still for a camera was going to be a challenge. She was really freaked out by the whole thing at first, as evidenced by this picture below:

But eventually after they blocked off the doorway so she couldn't escape, and Kaya decided the photographer and her silly assistant were actually pretty funny, she warmed up. She still didn't want to sit still, but we still managed to get some mighty cute shots. After it was over, she decided it had been such fun that she kept trying to run back into the room to join a little boy in his portrait session! Anyway, here's our cute litte monster (I know, you'd never guess that she was anything other than a sweet little princess, she's that good at what she does):
