Impossible as it may seem, and I know it seems impossible to me, Kendall is a whole decade old!He had his birthday on December 7th and was so excited to be turning ten. We celebrated at with a small family party on the 7th.
One of Lynnsey's gifts was a big wet smooch on the cheek. I love the resignation on Kendall's face. It was a fun night but what Kendall was really waiting for was his big friend party on the 11th. We came close to having to postpone it though when Kendall spent Wednesday morning at home with a stomach bug. Luckily it was short lived and by Friday he was as good as new.
The winner got a prize and the losers got smaller prizes.
Then we opened presents. He got some really fantastic gifts that included lego sets, Bakugan balls (the newest rage among that age of kids apparently), books, a remote control vehicle,
and even a very cool replica of Voldemort's wand that lights up at the tip.
Kaya enjoyed sneaking up on the table to find all sorts of goodies while everyone's attention was on Kendall, but of course the eyes in the back of my head caught her at it right away.
Presents were followed by cake and ice cream and then the parents arrived to take kids home. The sleepover was a great success. They watched a movie and then played with all of Kendall's new gifts. Finally at about 11:30 I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer (Kaya had a bad night the night before and I had gotten a total of about 4 hours of sleep), so I told them I was turning out the lights and they needed to get in their sleeping bags. They complied for about 15 seconds. I hadn't even made it all the way upstairs before I saw their flashlights passing by the stairway door. Oh well. I'm told that they stayed up till about 4:00 a.m. although Kendall said he only made it to 2:30. They had a ball though and Kendall is already asking for another sleepover sometime soon.
He invited 11 kids to the party and the boys had an extra invitation to stay for a sleepover afterward. We ended up with 10 kids able to come to the party and three boys at the sleepover, so it worked out pretty well.
The evening began with a pizza supper followed by a fun game of Bunco. I had been trying to figure out what we could do with the kids since it's winter and outdoor games don't work but 9 and 10 year olds would probably tire easily of something like "Duck, duck, goose" and those sorts of games. It was Kendall's idea to play Bunco and it was perfect. We had two tables full of kids who ended up loving the game.
We're so glad you had a happy birthday Kendall! You are one of the greatest blessings we could have ever asked for.

How FUN! My kids absolutely love the birthday sleepover. Isabel had one the last two years. Cecie can't wait til her friends are old enough, too. In the meantime, they are all looking forward to the long cousins "sleepover" coming soon!
I had planned a party once for Ashley and unfortunately, only one of her friends was able to come. She stayed the night and I have since suggested that Ashley invite her friends to come and stay but she doesn't want to. I guess she is not that into having friends over or having them meet family. She is a teenager so I guess it is whatever!!
I am glad that he had a good time and was feeling better for the party!
