One very nice thing about having children who are growing up (even though mostly I would still like to keep them little), is that I can leave them on their own more often and for longer periods of time. And having a mom who stays for extended periods in Michigan, makes it possible us to go away for a day or two!
Kalen had a conference to attend in Chicago and wanted me to go along with him. It took some scheduling because I had to make arrangements with my babysitting families. But it all worked out and I was able to go with him for a couple of days and stay in a nice hotel with an amazing view of the city. In between his meetings, we were able to go exploring and enjoy some down time together. We went to the temple, visited Navy Pier and saw an Imax movie, went and saw another movie at a nearby theater, went swimming, enjoyed yummy restaurants, and even took a quick trip in to the American Girl store so I could pick up a new doll brush for Lynnsey. When he was in meetings, I had a blast staying in the hotel room watching HGTV and working on crochet projects.

We were able to stay from Friday to Sunday morning and it was such a nice escape for those few days. Just what we needed!
