When we bought the tickets for Kaya to see Laurie Berkner on her birthday, we thought it would be really cool if Laurie could do a birthday shout out to Kaya in the audience. So I contacted her "people" to ask if it would be a possibility. They wrote back right away and were very gracious but explained that since there would probably be 50 other kids in the audience celebrating birthdays who would feel really left out if they weren't included in the birthday wishes, that they just make it a policy not to do that. Instead they took our mailing info and sent Kaya an autographed birthday postcard. It arrived a few weeks after the concert and I had actually forgotten about it. Kaya was so surprised and so thrilled. She packed her card around with her for days before we finally put it in her scrapbook for safe keeping.
