Well she's finally here! Kaya Nicole Oswald was born on Sunday, June 22nd at 11:20 a.m. She weighed 7 lbs 10 oz. and was 20.5 inches long. Everything went extremely well. Amazingly so, actually. I went into labor at about 4 a.m. and we headed to the hospital shortly after that. When I arrived I was dilated to a 6 so they admitted me and then not much happened. I was still having contractions but when they checked me again I still hadn't progressed much further. So I decided since it could be awhile and I was quite uncomfortable that I'd go ahead and get my epidural. Once they had that going and I still wasn't progressing, they gave me just a tiny bit of pitocin and that was all it took. Not much later I told the nurse that I was feeling that the baby was a lot lower so she checked me and said:"Oh my gosh! I can feel her ear!" So they whipped into action and called the doctor back in (he had gone home after hanging out for awhile thinking that I'd deliver sooner). So when he arrived and checked things he said: "Yeah, this is going to go quick." Sure enough. I pushed through two contractions and then while we were waiting for the next one, someone said something funny and I laughed and the baby just started sliding out. So the next contraction came and she was born without my doing anything. It was the craziest thing, I have to say. I LOVE epidurals!
Anyway, she is absolutely perfect and so beautiful (of course we aren't biased at all). The kids are all crazy about her so far. My brother Jonathan said we should have had quadruplets so they could each have a baby to hold. I prefer one at a time, thank you.
We brought her home on Tuesday afternoon and now are trying to adjust to all the craziness that a newborn brings. She's not sleeping much at night so far, so exhaustion is the biggest challenge right now. But I wouldn't change this for anything. We're just so happy to have her here and so thankful that everything went as well as it did. No sleep is a small price to pay.

Beautiful little lady! You have such a dear family. Everyone of them reminds me of you and your siblings when you were little. We loved the times that we spent with your family, and are so glad to be in contact again. I have always appreciated your yearly Christmas letter.
